Entertaiment is something that entertains people by making them laugh, feel happy and sometimes even cry. It has been shown that entertainment can stimulate the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine and other chemicals. Entertainment often hits on points the brain was shaped to deeply react to in order to function and survive in a social world. Examples are murders, backstabbing and other themes that are deeply felt by the human mind.
The word entertain comes from the Latin intertenere. The prefix inter means inside, and the suffix tenere means to hold or keep.
Entertainment can be adapted for any scale: from a private entertainment system at home to an entire theater production for thousands. Entertainment also can have a serious intention, such as ceremonies, celebrations or religious festivals and satire.
