Entertaiment refers to a wide range of leisure activities, and can be enjoyed on any scale, from individual choice from a broad selection of pre-recorded products; through banquets adapted for two; to parties and celebrations of various styles; through performance intended for thousands. One not unusual understanding of the term is strongly related to amusement, and so it might be regarded as an area for fun and laughter, although many entertainments have an extreme purpose, in terms of rite, ceremony, party, religious festival, or satire.
